Grocery giant hires three planning consultants

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury’s has hired WYG, Indigo and Turley Associates as planning consultants to help it roll-out its expansion plans over the next three years.

WYG has been appointed sole planning consultant in the South-east and West regions, Indigo has won in London and the East, while Turley Associates was successful in the North.

In common with other supermarket chains, Sainsbury’s is shifting its focus from developing new supermarkets to convenience stores, and to revamping its estate, which stands at 21 million square feet.

The retailer plans to open two convenience stores a week, with the number of convenience stores set to overtake supermarkets later this year.
