Marks Barfield Architects has unveiled this design for the £6m Ryde transport interchange on the Isle of Wight.

The interchange, which received planning permission this week, is the main point of access between the island and the UK and is used by more than 21,000 people a day. The scheme, for the Isle of Wight council, is inspired by the waves of the ocean and the rolling hills of the Isle of Wight. The engineer on the project, which is scheduled to open in 2007, is Connell Mott MacDonald.
