Contracting services specialist Tilbury Douglas is to break with more than a century of tradition and change its name.
The Berkshire group said it planned to rebrand itself as Interserve, a title that better reflected its activities, which include outsourcing, and equipment and support services.

Tilbury Douglas already uses the Interserve brand for some of its activities.

It also plans to incorporate outsourcing business Building and Property, which it bought for £85m in December, into the brand.

A statement released this week said: "The directors believe that the broader use of Interserve will project more clearly the group's ability to add value for customers through the provision of a wide range of integrated support services." The company is seeking shareholder approval of the move and has called an extraordinary meeting early next month to discuss the proposal.
