Builders’ merchant reports 6% increase for the first nine months of 2010

Builders’ merchant Travis Perkins has reported an increase in turnover for the first nine months of the year.

In an interim management statement for the third quarter up to the end of September 2010 the firm saw group turnover rise 6% compared with the same period last year with like-for-like gain in market share for its merchanting and retail divisions.

Total turnover for the merchanting division was up by 7.8% however gross margins for the third quarter are in line with the trend for the first six months and slightly below last year.

The company says trading for the last three months is in line with expectations and its outlook for the year as a whole remains unchanged from that stated in its June interim results announcement.

There was no further update on the proposed acquisition of BSS Group.
