Consultant also announces framework win for luxury jeweller Tiffany & Co.

Turner & Townsend has opened a new office in the capital of Uganda, Kampala, to target growth in East Africa.

T&T said it already works for a variety of clients in East Africa in the power, oil and gas, commercial and manufacturing sectors, but its new ‘hub’ office will allow it to expand in Uganda, as well as neighbouring Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya.

The consultant has also announced a multi-national cost management framework win for luxury jeweller Tiffany & Co.

T&T will work with Tiffany to renovate stores in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and emerging markets under the framework.

Commenting on the new Uganda office, Ian Donaldson, T&T managing director in Africa, said: “East Africa is one of the fastest growing regions in the world and there is a huge amount of opportunity to make a difference across a number of sectors, especially in the delivery of major infrastructure schemes.

“Turner & Townsend is experiencing steady growth as awareness of our capabilities spreads throughout East Africa and we look forward to building strong and lasting relationships, sharing international expertise and implementing local knowledge and skills on behalf of our clients, which currently include the Government of Uganda, Tullow Oil and the Institute of Tropical Agriculture.”

Commenting on the Tiffany appointment, T&T UAE country manager, Alan Talabani, said: “Tiffany & Co. is a truly iconic brand and it is an honour for Turner & Townsend to be assisting with the expansion of Tiffany & Co across Emerging Markets.

“The central challenge on a project of this scale will always be communicating across different time zones and countries, however Turner & Townsend’s global network of 76 offices makes all the difference, allowing for local expertise to be employed across the emerging markets as well as a face to face service for the core Tiffany & Co. team based in New York, where we are supported by our colleagues in our New York office.

“Working together with Tiffany and a team of local consultants, Turner & Townsend will be adding value to the project by advising the design team on the cost risks and logistics of brand items in the emerging markets in order to ensure the project not only comes in on budget, but that the design for each location is not compromised.”
