Plans for emirate will see population triple to 3m over next 22 years
The UAE has revealed a masterplan for Abu Dhabi that will guide development in the emirate until at least 2030.
Under Plan Abu Dhabi 2030: Urban Structure Framework the population of Abu Dhabi will triple to 3m.
The plan sets out building heights, transport infrastructure and land use and features guidance for large areas of traditional housing.
The UAE government has also established a new Urban Planning Council which will oversee implentation of the plan.
Urban Planning Council of Abu Dhabi appointed London-based Squint Opera to produce a four minute animated film showing the plans.
