Construction on Sheffield project to begin immediately

Vinci has received the go ahead to create a new school on the site of the existing Bradfield School at Worrall in Sheffield.  Construction on the £22m project begins immediately with completion scheduled for Summer 2013, ahead of the new school year.

The new split level school has a two and three-storey design and will cover over 8,600m². It will be constructed while the existing facility continues to operate. Once complete, the school will have a four court sports hall, fitness studio and a large main hall.

Keith Shivers, regional director with Vinci Construction UK, said:

“Our prime concern on this significant new project will be to ensure that all of our demolition and construction works are co-ordinated with the school to minimise any disruption to pupils and staff.

“We will be bringing all the experience and know-how we have gained; working extensively in the education sector across the UK and in Sheffield, to the Bradfield School project and we aim to deliver a new school facility that enhances learning for all its pupils.”

Keith G. Holmes, assistant head teacher at Bradfield School explained:

“The school has already forged a close relationship with Vinci Construction UK during the design and planning stages and we are all looking forward to the next part of this exciting era.”
