Private contractor decides to publish half-year numbers for third year running

Willmott Dixon said half year profit rose 15% in unaudited figures released by the firm this week.

As a private contractor, Willmott Dixon is not required to publish interim results – unlike its listed peers – but the firm has decided to publish numbers for the third successive year after releasing half year figures for the first time in more than a decade in 2024.

Willmott Dixon said it had secured £747m of new work and an order book of £1.4bn. It said its cash position was up 4% to £127m.

Chief executive Graham Dundas said: “Our priority this year was to convert our record level of preconstruction appointments into main contracts. By the end of July, we had secured £747m of new work, 89% of it under main contract, which gives us secure and visible revenue for 2027 and beyond.”

In its last set of full-year results filed at Companies House, Willmott Dixon said turnover last year stayed flat at £1.1bn. Underlying profit edged up £500,000 to £29.1m although pre-tax profit was down to £32m from £47m last time – although the 2024 pre-tax profit figure was inflated by a £20m gain for cladding remediation work.
