WSP has bagged a contract worth up to £32m to provide engineering consultancy services to both Bournemouth and Poole Borough Councils over the next nine years.

The agreement will have a focus on highways and transport services.

A team of 30 people based in Bournemouth, Southampton and Basingstoke, will provide a range of engineering consultancy services including civil engineering design and project management, coast protection, passenger transport, transport planning, and traffic and parking management.

WSP has been working with both councils since 2006 with their previous work in the area including improvements to Bournemouth’s main train and coach station to make it a more accessible and user friendly interchange, and the design of the Harbour Reach footbridge to improve links between residential development and local open space.

Larry Austin, service director for environment at Bournemouth Council said: ”Delivery of our various engineering led services and functions, together with the key projects within the Bournemouth and Poole conurbation, can now be approached with the continued high level of certainty and quality that the elected members, businesses and residents expect.”
