Latest incident comes just weeks after new safety rules issued to halt run of crane accidents

Another crane has toppled over on a construction site in the US, just weeks after new crane safety guidelines were issued.

The accident occurred on Monday morning in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, when a crane's boom fell forward onto exposed steel beams, damaging a school that was under construction.

The accident continues a spate of crane incidents that left nine people dead and have prompted New York City's Buildings Department just two weeks ago to issue new rules on crane safety.

Nobody was injured in the incident, and a spokesperson said the 27,000m2 project was large enough for work to continue on other areas while the few damaged beams were replaced.

Investigators from the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration visited the site on Monday following the accident.
