Organising body LOCOG appoints Atkins as official enginneering design services provider for temporary 2012 venues

Atkins has won a major deal to mastermind almost 100 temporary venues for the 2012 Olympics.



The firm has been appointed as official engineering design services provider by organising body LOCOG. The contract will see Atkins, which is already working on the remediation of the Olympic Park site for the Olympic Delivery Authority, deliver temporary venues, support facilities and training arenas across the country.

Atkins’ role will cover building services design, civil and structural engineering, acoustics, fire and accessibility advice.

LOCOG chairman Sebastian Coe said: “We are now at the half-way point between winning the bid and staging the Games and the appointment of Atkins is a real sign that the project is developing at a rapid pace and that we are well on track.”
