Foster and Farrell go head to head on Davies Commission

Terry Farrell said the expansion of Gatwick is the “only deliverable option” after the publication of the long-awaited report by the Davies Commission on airport expansion in the UK.

Farrell, who is behind the plans to rebuild Gatwick with two runways, made the comments after the Davies Commission endorsed rival airport Heathrow as the preferred choice for expansion. Davies didn’t entirely rule out Gatwick, concluding it remained a “credible” option.

Speaking about the report, the culminatiomn of three years’ work to analyse the best option for airport expansion in the south-east, Farrell said: “Expansion at Gatwick is the only deliverable option, and today’s report confirms that.

“Our proposals have consistently shown that a second runway at Gatwick will provide a much more balanced system of infrastructure, positively affecting the whole of the UK. I remain confident that expansion at Gatwick will be chosen as the way forward.”
