Firm’s fit-out arm Overbury wins job to revamp home of Canadian High Commission

Canada House

Morgan Sindall’s fit-out arm has won the £30mjob to refurbish and extend London’s famous Canada House.

The Canadian High Commission today named Overbury as the construction contractor for the planned revamp of Canada House on Trafalgar Square.

As Building revealed in January, Overbury was up against Chorus, Como, and Bam Construct for the contract.

The scheme, drawn up by Canadian architect Stantec and UK heritage architect Purcell, involves redeveloping and extending Canada House into the adjacent 2-4 Cockspur Street - formerly the home of DCMS - to create an 8,000sq m home for the Canadian High Commission.

The renewed Canada House is intended to “highlight Canada’s products and place in the United Kingdom both historically and in the 21st Century”.

The project is expected to be completed by 30 November 2014.
