Tory MP Hugh Robertson appointed minister for sports, while Ed Vaizey is set to assume responsibility for architecture

Tory MP Hugh Robertson has been appointed minister for sports and Olympics at the Department for Culture Media and Sport.

Robertson, who shadowed the role in opposition, is known for having championed the cause of West Ham FC moving to the Olympic stadium from the opposition benches.

The news comes as Conservative MP Ed Vaizey looks set to be confirmed as minister with responsibility for architecture. He has been appointed culture minister, which is a role that traditionally includes responsibility for architecture. Vaizey was Tory spokesperson on architecture while in opposition.

A spokesperson for the department confirmed both ministerial titles but said final exact briefs for the ministers had not been defined yet.
