Your leader on the government’s health reforms and clients’ need for solid advice struck a chord with us (16 July, page 3)

I chair the RIBA’s client design advisers (CDA) steering group. The people you describe exist, and the CDA is there to help them to get value from the built environment, typically buildings.

The CDA Register provides a list of advisers with professional expertise in a variety of built environment sectors. Individuals on the register support clients with independent, adaptable, local and specific advice to achieve best value outcomes.
