Confidence in the construction sector is at rock bottom, and what construction firms badly need is a scheme that reduces the risk of doing business

I would like to see the government introduce a support programme similar to the export credit insurance scheme, which provides insurance against non-payment to UK exporters.

Why can’t a similar scheme be launched within our shores? We need this because many firms, understandably, fear being left in the lurch if suppliers become insolvent, and suppliers are afraid of not getting paid if customers succumb to cash flow problems.
