Building Awards 2026 shortlists: Digital Excellence Award, sponsored by Bellrock

Earlier this year Building announced the names of all the firms that made it onto the shortlists for our prestigious annual Building Awards.

Now we are shining the spotlight on each category in turn and publishing a selection of the images that impressed the judges.

Today’s shortlist is for the Digital Excellence Award, sponsored by Bellrock.

Accenture and SSEN Transmission – Integrated project management  

SSEN Transmission and Accenture have created an integrated project management (IPM) solution that transforms how complex infrastructure portfolios are controlled and delivered. Bringing cost, schedule, risk, governance and performance data from 10 systems into one trusted environment, IPM digitises processes across more than 300 projects and supports over 700 users. Automated workflows replace manual reconciliation, enabling earlier intervention and more confident decision-making. Delivered collaboratively through a joint team, the programme included extensive roadshows, drop-ins and training to embed new ways of working. Its modular architecture provides a scalable model for major infrastructure programmes, creating a foundation for increasingly proactive, AI-assisted delivery of Scotland’s critical clean energy infrastructure.

ECD Architects – RetroFlow

RetroFlow tackles one of retrofit’s biggest delivery challenges: the administrative burden of creating compliant, property-level evidence packs. Developed through a knowledge transfer partnership with UCL, the AI-supported platform converts fragmented documentation into structured, validated data, creating a single source of truth for retrofit teams. Architectural assistants report at least twice the speed, reducing work on 10 properties from around three days to between one and 1.5 days. Across 2,000 annual design packs, the platform delivers approximately £210,000 in yearly efficiency savings against a £40,000 annual investment, achieving more than 5:1 ROI. Automated validation also reduces errors and rework, while its scalable architecture provides a digital foundation for faster, more reliable retrofit delivery.

HLM Architects – Cairn Digital Design Toolkit

The Cairn Digital Design Toolkit represents a step change in housing delivery, transforming Cairn’s established standardisation into an intelligent, scalable digital ecosystem. Developed by HLM Architects for Cairn through close collaboration with its client, the automated 3D digital kit of parts combines Revit, visual programming and Autodesk Construction Cloud to create a single source of truth, embedding geometry, metadata and construction intelligence throughout design and delivery. Standardised components automate repetitive work, improve co-ordination and reduce human error, while structured data supports real-time insight into cost, performance and constructability. The toolkit also bridges design and manufacturing, enabling consultants, contractors and offsite manufacturers to work from consistent information. It provides Cairn with a future-ready platform for delivering high-quality homes faster, consistently and at scale.

Reds10 – Redefining construction compliance through fully traceable, digitally assured delivery

Reds10 is redefining construction compliance by embedding digital assurance directly into delivery, creating the golden thread in real time rather than retrospectively. Its integrated system combines Autodesk Construction Cloud, LOD 500 BIM, automated data workflows, QR-coded components and AI-enabled validation to provide complete, asset-level traceability. At Wembley Manor, more than 1,200 safety-critical components were individually tracked, while verified evidence capture increased from around 40% to 100%. Automation has reduced manual tasks from hours to seconds, compressed sign-off cycles and reduced rework by identifying issues at installation. Already deployed across multiple projects, the scalable approach demonstrates how digital technology can deliver safer, more efficient and demonstrably compliant construction at scale.

Revizto – Moorfields and UCL Centre for Eye Health, a new model for delivering complex NHS infrastructure

Moorfields and UCL Centre for Eye Health demonstrates how digital collaboration can transform delivery of highly complex NHS infrastructure. Revizto worked with Bouygues to deliver the £300m, 47,000m² centre, which brings 3,500 specialist rooms together in a single state-of-the-art facility. Revizto’s digital co-ordination identified fire-stopping and MEP clashes up to 200 times faster than traditional methods, supporting Building Safety Act compliance and the golden thread. More than 100 users across 20 disciplines worked within a shared environment, enabling surgeons and clinical staff to navigate the live 3D model and directly influence design decisions. Real-time issue tracking reduced errors, strengthened co-ordination and created a more predictable, collaborative approach to healthcare delivery.

Siderise Group – Digital specification and installation tools

Siderise is transforming technical support for passive fire protection by embedding accurate, auditable information throughout the project lifecycle. Its digital strategy combines project-specific specification packs, testing information packs, enhanced BIM and NBS integration, and an inspection app to support designers, contractors and installers from specification through to handover. In 2025, 137 bespoke specification packs were delivered, while more than 4,100 inspection reports were generated globally, helping achieve right-first-time installation. A Salesforce-based platform creates a connected golden thread, linking technical enquiries, training and site evidence. Digital engagement has contributed to an NPS increase from 55 to 72, demonstrating how technology can improve compliance, confidence and life-safety assurance.

Skanska – 105 Victoria Street

At 105 Victoria Street, Skanska has turned digital construction into an integrated digital site operating model, improving safety, productivity, quality and handover confidence. The project pioneered the UK use of Schindler R.I.S.E robotics, removing operatives from hazardous lift-shaft drilling, while Autodesk Construction Cloud, OpenSpace and a bespoke crane management app strengthen traceability, assurance and logistics planning. Its Revizto fire-stopping workflow has tracked 2,726 builder-works at an average 101% productivity rate, creating clearer compliance visibility and a stronger golden thread. Meanwhile, 40,676 assets have been captured for handover. By connecting robotics, reality capture, digital quality assurance and structured data, Skanska demonstrates a safer, more predictable and scalable model for modern construction.
