Addition of Alfred McAlpine Capital Projects and Walter Thompson means 15 contractors have now joined scheme.

Contractors Alfred McAlpine Capital Projects and Walter Thompson have joined the Considerate Constructors Scheme, taking the number of contractors in the scheme to 15.

Alfred McAlpine has registered 64 sites with the Scheme, and Walter Thompson 35.

Companies that are invited to become Associate Members are those which have shown ongoing commitment to the principles of the Scheme and have historically performed beyond the requirements of the Code of Considerate Practice.

Chairman Peter Kingdon said: "The Scheme looks forward to working with its Associate Members, both existing and new."

The Considerate Constructors Scheme's criteria for auditing and judging site performance have recently been reviewed and updated.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme registered its 15000th site in January. It was set up as a result of the Latham Review, one conclusion of which had been that the image of the construction industry needed improving. The idea was that there would be a Code of Practice that sites could sign up to, and these sites would be monitored and given advice on how to improve their image.
