Amec has posted a pre-tax profit of £151.6m for the year to 31 December 2007.

Turnover rose 11% from £2.1bn to £2.4bn in what Samir Brikho, the chief executive, called a “year of transformation”.

The growth was largely the result of the strong performance of the natural resources and power and process divisions.

In the previous year the group was £27m in the red because of loss-making construction contracts. It has now sold the building and PPP divisions to focus on project management.

Brikho said: “Our end markets in the energy, power and process sectors remain strong, and significant progress is expected in each of the group’s core divisions.”
