’Single unit of environmental excellence’ for consultant Atkins and subsidiary Faithful + Gould

Atkins and subsidiary Faithful + Gould have launched a green division with the aim of taking a slice of the green consultancy market.

The announcement came as Faithful + Gould published research suggesting a majority of clients do not value accounting for and dealing with embodied carbon.

A survey of 166 leaders in the property and construction sectors found 53% of clients had never asked about embodied carbon.

Embodied carbon is the term used to describe all the CO2 produced during a construction project.

Sam Locke, director of the new joint division, said: “We’re really excited as for the first time it brings together experts from both energy teams into a single unit of environmental excellence, to benefit clients.”
