Contract awarded to Babcock Dyncorp for the East of England will run for up to ten years.

Defence Estates, the property arm of MOD, has awarded a £500m regional prime contract for the East of England to Babcock Dyncorp. Babcock Dyncorp is a joint venture comprising of Babcock Infrastructure and Dyncorp International.

The contract will last between seven and ten years and the contractor will be responsible for capital works and property maintenance at over 45 MOD sites throughout East Anglia, East Midlands and the Northern Home Counties. Mowlem was announced reserve bidder.

The contract is due to take effect in the autumn. Gary Ward, regional prime contractor team leader, said “This announcement signals our continued progress towards the delivery of a first class service to our customers through an efficient and effective prime contract.”

Mr Ron Jones, Defence Estates director of projects called the contract a major milestone. He said: “It represents a further significant step towards the provision of an MOD estate of the right size and quality.”
