Architect Llewelyn Davies Yeang has won a competition to masterplan an ecological transport corridor linking Istanbul's east and west waterfronts with the rest of Turkey.

Included will be an urban park for the capital city as well as a corridor joining the wildlife of the uplands to the north with the coastal ecology of the south. Planned facilities around a 2 km motorway include a 1000-berth marina, canals, two hotels and public spaces and beaches. The project is the first big design competition won by the practice since Ken Yeang, who will lead the scheme, joined it last year.
