Priority schools

Building understands the contractor has beaten off competition from Kier for the £33m batch of schools, the latest to come to market through the £400m first phase of the government’s flagship Priority School Building Programme (PSBP).

The batch comprises six schools in the local authority areas of Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, and Kent.

The news comes after Building revealed that Carillion beat off competition from Bam Construct for the £47m North-west 1 batch of schools. It is the first batch of schools won by Carillion through the first phase of the PSBP.

Meanwhile, Kier also picked up its first batch of schools, after beating Interserve to the £30m batch of schools in the south of England.
