Costain is set to carry out the £150m upgrade of the railway station servicing London’s second largest airport.

The Department for Transport has promised £150m of funding to the project which will see the station concourse double in size and two platforms widened to reduce overcrowding.

The scheme will also add five new lifts and eight escalators to improve passenger flow.
