Second of the major stations comes to market

Crossrail has tendered for the £350m job to build Farringdon station, the second of the major central stations to be brought to the market.

The organisation said the contract will be for the construction of the main Crossrail Farringdon station, which included digging two 400m long pilot tunnels, two platform tunnels, and construction of the ticket halls.

Crossrail said the estimated cost was in the region of £350m, and should take 70 months to complete from award of contract. The tender will go to the cheapest bid that meets the specifications.

Crossrail tendered for Paddington station main works at the start of October, with contracts for Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road, Liverpool Street, Whitechapel and Custom House Crossrail stations yet to come.
