Bairstow Eves high-street office collapses again after earlier fatal incident in June

A building in West Bromwich that killed a builder when it collapsed in June suffered a second collapse yesterday.

A road was closed after a wall and scaffolding caved in on the Bairstow Eves estate agency office on the high street, at around 12pm yesterday.

Firefighters drafted in search and rescue dogs to check for victims but later said that nobody was hurt.

Structural engineers from Sandwell council are investigating the cause of the collapse had been drafted in.

The earlier collapse killed 47-year-old builder Lakhvir Singh, who had been removing a chimney breast in a flat above the estate agent's office when the roof fell on him.

An inquest heard that the work was being carried out without planning permission.
