The building incorporates an array of eco-friendly features, from sustainable cladding in Siberian larch to heat pumps that draw warmth from 70 m boreholes. In addition, louvred vents provide natural ventilation, recycled paper has been used for wall insulation and wastewater is filtered in a reed bed. Kier Eastern was the contractor, Arup the structural engineer and Gowing & Hunt the services engineer.
