Davies will take up post in July

Former Kier chief executive Andrew Davies is set to become chairman of Southern Water in July.

Davies, who left Kier at the end of last October after arriving in 2019, has been made chair designate of the utility, joining the board with immediate effect.

He takes over as chair on 16 July and will replace Keith Lough who has been in the post for seven years.

Davies said: “I’m delighted to be joining Southern Water as chair at such an important moment for the business and the wider sector.

“Customers and regulators demand to see faster and more sustained improvements in performance and it’s clear that the company must continue to rise to that challenge.”

Southern Water covers Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, West Sussex, East Sussex and Kent. In its last set of accounts, for the year to March 2025, it posted a turnover of £964m but racked up a pre-tax loss of £89m – although this was down from the £232.5m loss it recorded the year before.
