TOP 10 QS Franklin + Andrews has launched a new division, Capro Consulting, to offer strategic advice on capital projects and built assets to high-spending clients.

It will now compete head-to-head with management consultants such as Ernst & Young and Andersen Consulting, rather than acting for them in a subcontracting capacity. Chairman Martin Bishop said: “We have established that clients need a single, trusted expert who can take a holistic approach to a traditionally fragmented industry.”The new division has 20 staff, 10 from within the firm and 10 from outside, with expertise in business planning, risk analysis, economics and value management. It is aiming for a fee turnover of £2m in its first 12 months.

Capro hopes to have a staff of between 50 and 70, and fee income of £6m in three years.

The move comes six weeks after Franklin + Andrews announced job losses at its London and Middlesbrough offices. At the time, the firm complained that its fee income was failing to keep pace with costs.
