Richard Young joins after 22 years at rival

Gleeds has poached Richard Young from Buro Four to head up its project management business in the UK.

Young spent more than 20 years at the firm where he was a director based in London working on schemes including Great Portland Estates’ Rathbone project and Crown Estate’s Café Royal.

He has joined Gleeds as the director of its management services business in the UK, with a focus on the London market.

A spokesperson for Gleeds said the division has a global turnover of £50m and added: “Project management is one of the fastest growing areas of Gleeds. [We] work on some major projects with blue chip clients and we are looking for Richard to help us continue grow the business.”

Young previously worked for Wimpey Construction and Mowlem as a project engineer and design manager.

Buro Four has recently rejigged the leadership team at its 80-strong business with former associate director Ian Higgs becoming managing director of its largest business, London.

Stuart Flaxton has been promoted to London operations director while David Boles has been appointed managing director of the regions.
