Consultant hired to project and cost manage Zaha Hadid's 'keynote' building in Dubai

Construction and management consultancy Gleeds has won the contract to project and cost manage the Zaha Hadid designed iconic new Opus building in Dubai.

Real-estate development firm Omniyat Properties unveiled the 1.7 million sq ft floor plan which has over 22 stories of commericial and retail office space in London earlier this week.

Gleeds senior partner Richard Steer said :“The new 22 storey cubed shaped mixed use building has been described as setting new standards in a global context and makes a unique contribution to the businness bay section of Dubai. It is unlike any other project with which Gleeds are currently involved”.

Hadid has described the Opus as one of her keynote designs.

The design includes 17 levels of office space, four levels of retail, a top floor relaxation area and roof garden as well as a five-storey basement.

Construction will begin later this year with completion expected to be in 2010.
