Architect Piercy Conner is to build a fully operational "micro-flat" in a window at Selfridges' London store.

The practice is looking for two key workers, or young professionals, to live in the flat for two weeks as part of a campaign to highlight the need for affordable housing in London. They will be filmed by Carlton Television as part of a documentary looking at the shortage of affordable housing. Piercy Conner rose to national prominence after Building revealed its plans to build 25 m2 flats for key workers. The firm explained the idea to London mayor Ken Livingstone in an effort to obtain public funding for the scheme.
