New facility set for completion in the summer will utilise natural ventilation

The University of Warwick is due to open up the Warwick Digital Laboratory in summer 2008.

The £13 million development has recently taken on Hoare Lee Consulting to provide electrical and mechanical engineering and supply design advice.

Designed by Edward Cullinan Architects the four-story building will house a central first floor concourse, research labs, demonstration rooms, open plan office space and a lecture theatre.

Internal office areas will use the open atrium as an exhaust air path and an underground internal air labyrinth will provide temperature control for the ground floor.

Solar panels may also be used as part of the project, depending on funding.
