Contractor says hotel, which will include 350 bedrooms, conference facilities, gym and swimming pool, will take 80 weeks to complete

Contractor John Sisk has won a £43m job to build a Hilton hotel next to Heathrow airport's Terminal 5.

Sisk said work had just begun on the project, which will take 80 weeks to complete. The hotel will include 350 bedrooms, conference facilities, gym and a swimming pool.

Les Nicholls, director for the western region at Sisk, said the company adapted the design to meet the specific challenges of the site. He said: “We have constructed a number of Hilton hotels previously, so we knew the level of detail expected. We are delighted to win such a prestigious contract in the current, difficult economic climate.”

Hilton Hotels will operate the hotel once built. The developer is Rising Star.
