The 953-bed Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, one of the largest hospitals ever built in a single phase, will open its doors to patients this month.

The £170m facility, which replaces two existing hospitals, is at the edge of the city next to the University of East Anglia. Built by PFI consortium Octagon Healthcare for the Norfolk & Norwich University NHS Trust, the project team included contractor Laing, architect Anshen Dyer Associates, structural engineer WSP, services engineer Hoare Lea & Partners, quantity surveyor WC Inman & Partners and maintenance and support services contractor Serco.
