KSS, which worked on the City of Manchester stadium, will design the stadium itself. Make will be responsible for the wider masterplan, with landscape designer Martha Schwartz and technical engineer Buro Happold also working on the project.

The scheme, known as the Northumberland Development project, is to be built on the existing stadium site and will create a new 60,000-capacity venue, a club museum, shops, restaurants and housing.
