A roof collapsed through three floors in a block of flats in West Bromwich

A man has died after a block of flats collapsed in West Bromwich high street early this morning.

Four others were rescued from the three-storey building after the roof fell through two floors.

Police said there was no construction work taking place on the building and there was no suggestion the collapse was due to structural problems.

A spokeswoman said: “We are treating the incident as suspicious at this stage.”
