Miller Construction has emerged as the preferred bidder for a £32m job to build a new high school in Wick, in the Scottish Highlands.

The Wick Community Campus project comprises a new high school as well as a performance venue, a community swimming pool and library.

The school is one of the first to be developed through the Hub public-private partnerships scheme, set up by the Scottish Futures Trust.

Miller was appointed by Hub North Scotland, working in partnership with The Highland Council.

Miller’s joint venture with Cyril Sweet Investment, called Alba Community Partnerships, secured a role on Hub North Scotland in 2010.

Hub North Scotland aims to deliver £435m of community facilities over the next 10 years.

Construction on the project scheduled to begin later this year.
