Team of consultants will be led by GVA Grimley.

A team of consultants led by GVA Grimley has been appointed to plan the growth of Milton Keynes to as far as 2031.

The team, which also includes consultants EDAW, Atkins and Ecotec, will build on an existing plan which streches to 2011. The new document will identify housing growth as well as employment, community transport and transport links.

Work on the plan will start this month and completed by early Summer 2006. The team was appointed by the Milton Keynes Partnership, a body that came into being last year and includes representatives from Milton Keynes Council and English Partnerships as well as business and community leaders.

The partnership's chairman Sir Bob Reid said: "Like the original 1970s Milton Keynes masterplans this will be a ground-breaking project. This long term outlook will provide the certainty and confidence needed to make major investment decisions."
