Morris expands its North-west division with an acquisition for an undisclosed sum

Morris Homes has expanded its North-west division with the acquisition of Badger Homes for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition adds more than 100 units to its existing stock and allows Morris to expand in the North-west at a time when the government is restricting the availability of land for development in the region. All Badger sites will be re-branded under the Morris banner.

Morris Homes is one of the UK largest privately owned housebuilders with turnover expected to reach £250m in the current financial year. It generated an 18% rise pre-tax profit to £31.5m for the year ending 31 March on a turnover of £172.6m

It has divisions in the North-west, East and West Midlands and the South and 95% of its developments are on brownfield land.

Mike Gaskell, chief executive of Morris, said: “This is an attractive acquisition for the group and further cements our position as one of the North-west’s largest developers. The Badger product is complementary to our own and we are looking forward to a smooth transition.”
