Work has begun on the Carmine element of the Merchant Square scheme at Paddington Basin, west London.

The 370,000ft2 development, designed by Mossessian & Partners, is Michel Mossessian’s first project to get to construction since founding his own practice in 2005. The 15-floor building, part of phase one of European Land’s development plans for the site, is expected to complete in September next year. Laing O’Rourke is main contractor, WSP is the structural engineer and GTMS project manager.
