Consultant snaps up expert from the Italian government’s project finance initiative

EC Harris’ PPP business in Italy has appointed an expert in the area from the prime minister's office.

Alberto Germani joins the consultant after seven years on the Italian government’s project finance initiative (PFI) taskforce. The group was established in 2000 by the then Ministry of the Treasury to act as a focal point for PFI activities across the government.

The taskforce, which includes experts from both the public and private sector, provides support to local and central public administrations for evaluation and implementation on PFI projects.

Amongst the projects A Germani advised on were the Lyon to Turin high-speed railway link, the Milan to Brescia motorway, the Milan underground and the enlargement of Politecnico of Turin.

Before joining the taskforce he worked for Europrogetti & Finanza, financial advisors to the Italian Ministry for European and National Funds, as chief of integrated project evaluation.

His previous roles include project management and control at the Italian State railways engineering company, Italferr Sis. TAV, chief of planning with Consorzio Venezia, a consortium of government agencies and private investors to deliver the ‘Save Venice’ project, and site engineer and commercial manager with Rodio Spa and Alitalia respectively.
