Consultant Ridge has acquired 55-strong consultant engineer Upton McGougan for an undisclosed sum.

Ridge completed the purchase last week, which it said would strengthen its multi-disciplinary offering.

Upton McGougan was formed in 1981 and offers civil and structural engineering, building consultancy and services design from its Winchester and London offices.

Ridge, which has 360 staff, said the acquisition “strengthened its structural engineering and mechanical & electrical design teams and added expertise in civil engineering, traffic and transport, drainage and flood alleviation design”.

Ridge told Building last month it was looking to make further bolt-on acquisition, after acquiring six-strong Midlands-based engineer Brazier Holt last September.

Phil Jones, senior partner of Ridge, said the acquisition was “a good fit both geographically and in terms of further expanding our broad range of disciplines”.

Ridge offers project management, M&E, structural and civil engineering and architecture services.
