GMB union says 100 of its members at Bolton site offered ‘literally nothing’ in wage negotiations
Union GMB has said that more than 100 workers at Severfield’s factory in Bolton are set to strike for three days this month.
In a statement, the union said workers will down tools next Monday followed by two more days of walkouts on 23 and 24 February.
It said the dispute involved the firm’s welders, platers and machine operators at its Lostock site.

It added that more than 90% of GMB workers had voted to strike in a dispute over pay.
The union said its members, who have been working an overtime ban this week, had been offered a zero per cent pay rise by the company.
GMB regional organiser John Weir said workers had been offered “literally nothing” in recent pay negotiations.
Severfield, which recently announced plans to close its modular business, has been hit by a series of losses recently and in its last set of results saw pre-tax losses grow a third to £7.6m for the six months to 27 September last year.
GMB regional organiser John Weir said: “Severfield is a huge company, with revenues of nearly half a billion pounds. Regardless of losses in a single year, that workers should shoulder the burden is unacceptable.
“GMB has provided a range of options to settle this dispute but Severfield continues to say 0 per cent is their final offer, so our members are left with no choice but to strike.”
Severfield declined to comment.
