Phase one of the 555-home redevelopment of the old Mardyke Estate into the Orchard Village began this week with the demolition of the old tower block

The estate in the London borough of Havering was originally built in the sixties to house workers at the Ford Dagenham factory. Since residents voted to transfer to Old Ford Housing Association – part of Circle Anglia – in March 2008, extensive works have been carried out to existing properties. Over the next six years Circle Anglia will invest about £80m in the PRP-designed regeneration of the estate.
