Consultant to manage costs for a 5.3-acre campus that will house the business school, department of arts, humanities and social sciences and student residences.

Consultant Turner & Townsend has been appointed to manage costs for a £90m campus at the University of Worcester.

The contract, awarded under the Office of Government Commerce framework, is to work on the university's plans to establish a 5.3-acre campus in the city centre. The university's existing campus is on the edge of the town and on the River Severn.

It will house the business school, department of arts, humanities and social sciences, student residences, a conference centre and business incubator units.

University of Worcester project director Dr Martin Doughty said; "We're looking forward to working with Turner & Townsend on this exciting project, which will bring a wealth of educational and economic benefits to Worcester and the surrounding region."

Work is planned to start on the city centre campus in early 2007.
