St Pancras scheme due to be completed by Mace in 2032

Three firms are chasing one of the biggest packages due to be let on the British Library extension scheme in London.

The concrete work has an overall value of around £100m and is set to be broken down into individual deals over the next couple of years.

Building understands Careys, Keltbray and Morrisroe are all in the mix for the work with a winner expected by the summer.

The work is due to complete by 2032

The project at St Pancras will be one of the biggest construction jobs in the capital in the coming years and is being let as a CM contract.

It is being run by Japanese developer Mitsui Fudosan and development manager Stanhope and involves adding a 93,000sq m groundscraper containing office and library space to the side of the grade I-listed 1990s landmark.

Mace beat Sir Robert McAlpine to the job last summer with site clearance starting earlier this year.

The job, which has an overall value of £1.1bn, is due to finish in 2032.
