Architect David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, masterplanner Daniel Libeskind and developer Larry Silverstein have unveiled the design of the Freedom Tower, the first and tallest building planned for the 16-acre site of the World Trade Centre. Soaring 1776 ft into the Lower Manhattan skyline, the tower will be more than 400 ft taller than the twin towers and nearly 300 ft taller than the world's current tallest building, the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
