Vinci buys Newcastle contractor

French contractor Vinci has continued its push into the UK regions with the purchase of Newcastle-based contractor Gordon Durham for an estimated £5m.

Gordon Durham works on deals of up to £10m for public sector clients in the social housing and education sectors and has a current turnover in the region of £20m.

It will operate under Vinci’s Norwest Holst banner.

In the year to 31 July 2007 Gordon Durham turned over £13.3m and made a pre-tax profit of £698,000.

A Vinci statement said the executive directors of Gordon Durham, led by managing director Ray Atkinson, would continue to manager the business.
