Frivolity, we know, is part of the festive season, but nonetheless it should be no excuse for sloppy journalism.

With regard to your piece on Will Alsop (17 December, page 24) we would like to point out:

  • First, that the Victoria House project to which you refer was successfully completed and occupied in 2003, not 2004.
  • Second, with regard to the Fourth Grace, it is misleading to say that the designs were thrown out for being too costly. Your editorial team should be aware that the recent scrutiny panel report into the Fourth Grace collapse has totally cleared the design team of any blame for the project’s demise. Maybe in the new year, when the frivolity is over, you could print the facts.
